PRINCE2 Project Management (Version 7): Foundation and Practitioner

By PrepVerdict Editorial TeamUpdated 7 November 2026

PRINCE2 is a process-based project management method owned by PeopleCert, which took over AXELOS. The current version 7 is built on five integrated elements: seven principles, people, seven practices, seven processes and the project context, which we use as the exam domains here. Foundation is a 60-minute, closed-book, 60-question exam with a 60% pass mark; Practitioner is a 150-minute, open-book exam worth 70 marks, also 60% to pass. Certifications are kept current with 60 CPD points or a new exam.

How to prepare

  1. Get the official PRINCE2 7 manual (included in PeopleCert's exam bundle as an eBook) and read the overview, principles, people, practices and processes chapters
  2. Learn the seven principles and seven practices by name and purpose, and be clear on the 7th edition renames: Organizing and Issues
  3. Draw the process model from memory: who triggers each process, which management products it creates, and which role is responsible
  4. Learn the management products that are easy to confuse: highlight vs checkpoint vs exception report, project brief vs PID, issue register vs daily log
  5. Take timed Foundation practice tests aiming well above 60%, then book the exam; for Practitioner, practise applying the method to a scenario with the manual open
  6. Plan your renewal: log 60 CPD points within the cycle or pass another exam from the same product suite
